In an effort to enhance conservation, education, and research in and near El Copé,
Coclé Province, Republic of Panama, we are building the environmentally friendly La
MICA Biological Station to provide services to researchers, students, and tourists
from around the world. La MICA is constructed, operated, and supported by the
people residing near the project.
Our Objectives

  • To conserve the local ecosystem and protect its flora and fauna.
  • To advance the scientific knowledge at all educational levels.
  • Incorporate the skills of local people to the advancement of science
    through utilization of local knowledge.
  • To provide sustainable economics for local people in replacement
    of destructive practices in and near Omar Torrijos National Park.
  • To preserve traditional cultures of persons residing within and near
    the boundaries of Omar Torrijos National Park.
